Children University of Cologne 2009

KinderUniKöln2009, Foto 1

On the 4th of May a talk took place within the scope of the Children University of Cologne 2009 to the German contribution in the Antarctic research. The talk “Head over in the refrigerator of the earth“ from Prof. Martin Melles and Dr. Oliver Stock, was for children from 8 to 14 years. The aim of the Children University of Cologne is to advance the younger generation already early to the science. The talk seemed to have met the nerve of the young researchers. Beside all 72 seats, the ways right and left and the area behind the rows was occupied by listeners. During the one-hour event many interesting questions were placed. The childern had a lot to discuss and they accomplished an experiment with melting ice. The lecturer (Oliver Stock) was often surprised at the precise answers of the children.
