Application and promotion
The DFG-Priority Programme 1158 ist the most important but only promotion tool for the German Antarctic research. Each year it allocates an amount of about 3 million Euro to promote German Antarctic scientists. The DFG-Priority Programme 1158 promotes scientists, which teach and do research at German universities and research institutes.
Every year applications can be submitted. Deadline for application is the 31st October (e.g. application submitted at the 29th October 2010, promotion possible in summer 2011). About one month before the deadline, the coordination bureau of the DFG-Priority Programme 1158 is holding a coordination workshop, at which the applicants introduce their proposals in short presentations. Further, the coordination workshop offers the opportunity to the applicants to bundle their research proposals and to plane required logistics between the projects and the supporting Institutions, such as AWI Bremerhaven and BGR Hannover.
Proposals, comprising two paper drafts and a electronic version, e.g. pdf file, have to be sent to the DFG. Further, an electronic version have to be sent to the respective sub-coordinator (
see Coordination) and the coordination assistant of the DFG-Priority Programme 1158.
Applicants have the opportunity to apply with single proposals (single PI), joint proposals (two or more PIs, with costs shown separately) and bundeled proposals (single or joint proposals bundled under one topic).
